Guaraná comes being used by the Indians from Brazil from remote times by its multiple beneficial effects. To therapeutic effects and as complement, their seeds, deprived of the external cover or tegumento are used. Generally, they are toasted and they pulverize, and so a dust of brown color, very rich in caffein, teobromina is obtained and tannins. Xanthic bases (3-5,8%): caffein (according to French Farmacopea not less than 3%), teobromina (0,02-0,05%).
It contains catéquicos tannins (up to 12%): 6% (+) - catequina, 3% (-) epicatequina, and proanthocyanidins. Effects
He is a stimulant of the central nervous system by his caffein content.
